Comments(1) We have been looking at more ideas to help my poor itchy skin – the sensitivity seems to be triggered by fleas, although I do not have fleas. Apparently some dog supplements containing peptide extracts could help improve the problem. They are widely used in human skin creams so I suppose this makes sense. Our neighbour has also got an idea that there could be a homeopathic remedy so we are going to see about that.
Itchy skin can come from many things – but often a product that has been used on the pet has simply removed the natural oils from his skin and coat. There is nothing better than dry skin to cause itching. Sometimes when you think that your pet has no fleas, you may be mistaken. The only completely effective method to determine if your pet has fleas is to use a flea comb.
If you find flea dirt or flea eggs, fleas have been on the pet, fed on his blood supply and jumped off, either outside or inside your home.
