What does the term dog kennels mean to you? Mum asked me this last night, in one of our usual profound dog debates. Well I have never had an outside dog kennel, but I remember we visited friends of Dad’s just after I arrived here and their dogs sleep outside in their own kennels. The other thing I remember about that visit is that I lifted my leg in their kitchen, I’m ashamed to say. I was a bit nervous in my new surroundings, I think. When I beg at the table during dinner Dad often threatens to make me sleep outside like those guard dogs. Sure – he would be coming outside to check that I was OK right through the night, the big softie!
