Dog Fare Dodger

When we were on holiday Mum and Dad decided to take me on the Steam Train from Paignton to Kingswear, where there is a ferry over to Dartmouth. I like going on trains – there are always new people to meet and often I get a few biscuits and treats along the way. We got to the station in a rainstorm and rushed through, buying the tickets on the way. The train arrived and we got on. A few minutes later the ticket collector came along and she said hello to me, then when she checked the ticket she told Mum that I should have paid a fare too! We dogs do not normally pay for a ticket on trains or buses so Mum and Dad were surprised and they asked the lady to give me my very own train ticket. You can see it in the photo. I don’t look very happy, do I? Mum was teasing me that I would not get so many treats – to pay for the cost of the ticket!
You can see that the track went along the coast and there were some nice views of the beach, with plenty of space for looking out of the windows.
