Settling a new puppy

Your New Puppy – what to expect when you bring him home

When a puppy leaves his first family, and heads off to his new, forever home, he’s still very young. Around 8 weeks if he’s a medium/large breed pup, more likely 10 – 12 weeks old if he’s a tiny or toy breed puppy.

At this age your puppy is just a baby, and the stress of leaving his familiar family and surroundings, perhaps coupled with a long car ride, or airplane journey, and topped off with a sea of new faces/experiences and possibly even a change in diet, is a LOT OF STRESS for him to handle. Read more »

Meeting Nice Dogs

In Highgate Woods we met a very nice Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy called Bernard. At five months old he is still learning to socialise, and when we first met he was being submissive, crouching when we approached. He soon got more confidence and I did my favourite sniffing dance with him, which is my way of shaking hands! He lives outside London normally, so I probably won’t see him again.
