The Only Dog Friendly Pub in Muswell Hill for Kevin the Collie

Mum was worrying that I seemed a bit subdued last week after my visits to the vet’s. We had not been far afield and I am still getting used to my new home. My new place to lie is next to the Aga, which is my idea of dog heaven, and I read the Muswell Hill Journal. No surprise if I am a bit quiet – I’m sleeping..

On Friday night we went to the Royal Oak, still the only dog friendly pub in Muswell Hill and a very good pub anyway. I always recognise the route when we walk there, and I get excited. Which dogs would be there? When we arrived I spotted the Schnauzer, another regular, so I went to say hello. I bounded back to Mum and leapt up on to the seat beside her – that will teach her to say I was quiet! She quickly shooed me off, cos I never get on to furniture as a rule. The Yorkshire Terrier arrived soon after and he is always friendly. Then the evening got better as the Landlord came in with his golfing team. Bliss – twenty new people to sniff out. I had great fun mingling, and popping back to reassure Them I hadn’t gone outside. In spite of my new diet, I did have a couple of cheese and onion crisps. Suddenly I felt a bit more lively.

Kevin the Collie Visits his Dog Friendly Local

Another good night at the pub – Mum and Dad took me to the Famous Royal Oak, one of the most friendly pubs around. I walk around off the lead, mixing with the customers as I choose.
Obviously this is only possible for a well behaved dog after training! We met a very nice young Irish couple, but we forgot to get their names. They live in Muswell Hill as well so I will catch them next time. No food available last night so we had to make do with crisps – yum!
PS Hana asked me about crips – there is a picture above. My other fave snacks are prawn crackers: picture here. Dad gets Prawn Crackers with a Chinese Takeaway.

Three go mad in Dorset

So we WERE going on another On Saturday I got a short walk before we set off through the traffic for . We stopped a few times on the way, including at a country bakery where the hot bread was cooling in trays outside – but they would not let me near it….
The cottage was great, with a ‘Welcome’ bottle of wine on the table, so They were happy. There were lots of quiet lanes so I could walk off the lead most of the time. Dorset seems to be a great place for generally, and some people were extra kind to me. The chef at offered me a bowl of water when he saw me sit down. This kind of thing doesn’t often happen to a , and I was really grateful as I was extra thirsty in the hot weather. I think Mum wants to move there now…

More of my Dorset adventures to follow soon.
