Pubs in Brighton – Dog Friendly?

We will be quite close to Brighton when we are on the south coast and Mum wants to visit there cos she loves the shops and the pubs. She says there is a great atmosphere in Brighton and everyone is up for a good time. We found a website today that reviews Brighton’s best pubs, I left a comment there and asked them to make sure they include the best pubs for dogs.

Kevin the Collie at the Black Horse

Hey – Mum found the lead for the camera and uploaded my photos taken at the Black Horse in Climping. I liked this pub very much, it was really dog friendly. When I arrived another dog was with his family while they had lunch. The barman took this nice photo of me and Mum by the antique brick fireplace – she loves stuff like that. And Nan said this confirms that she wants to live here.

Dog Friendly Pub – Climping

I must let you know we discovered a very nice new pub where dogs are welcome today. We went to Climping in East Sussex, which is a very pretty little hamlet with a fab Gothic fantasy hotel, a great uncommercialised beach and a very smart pub. The Pub is called the Black Horse: we asked if I could come in and they made me welcome. When we got inside there was a very nice Cocker Spaniel sitting with his family while they ate lunch. Picture to follow, I think.

Muswell Hill Dogs

Last night we went to my favourite dog friendly pub. Dad threatened to leave me at home cos I was barking but in the end we all went out together. Of course, I know the way to the Royal Oak, and as soon as we walk in that direction I get more and more excited. Last night I was the only dog there so I gave a few woofs to introduce myself. I asked a man to give me his cheese roll but he wasn’t playing ball. Then the landlord came across with some corned beef as my treat: Mum thought that was a good idea – ‘meat is much better than crisps for a dog’. Oh Yeah? I’ll have both!

Happy Dog Walks

Well I have not had a really good walk in the woods for a few days as Mum has been at the gym wuite often.
Mum took me shopping in Finchley and went to her favourite, dog friendly, Turkish grocer, in Finchley High Road. The man who runs it came and made a big fuss of me: Mum was really pleased.
Later on we went to the pub – I know the way now. It was a bit quiet, people must be saving their cash for Christmas.

What makes a dog friendly pub?

We do not understand why it is that some pubs are so relaxed about letting dogs in, and others have a complete ban. We were looking at the doggiepubs site recently, and this is what they said: ‘The commonest excuses about not allowing dogs are “it’s the regulations”, or “Brussels”, or “they wurrrah-wurrrah the bar stools”. Fair enough, but we are not sure why “the regulations” apply to some pubs and not others.’
