Dog Adventures in Muswell Hill Snow

It snowed last night, so we went to Alexandra Park with lots of others, desperate to enjoy the scattering of fluffy powdery snow while it lasts. In the park we met a lady who had lost her Jack Russell, Bertie. She was extra worried as his dog tag had fallen off. He is white, she told us: not so easy to spot today. We looked for him all the way but he could not be found. We know their address so we walked round there later and when we knocked at the door, we heard – a dog barking! Bertie the Jack Russell had found his way home and was waiting on the doorstep when his Mum got back.
Mum insisted on taking a photo of me in the snow, so here it is. I even sat in my famous ‘Dog as Sphinx’ pose – in exchange for a dog biscuit.

New Dog at Kevin’s Local

Finally Mum and Dad took me to the pub last night, after my traumatic day. They were in such a rush after they both dragged themselves away from the laptops that they forgot to feed me first. When we arrived, they got me some crisp (chips) and a nice bowl of ice cubes. The little Jack Russell was there as well, and everyone was watching a football match on the TV. There were a lot of goals and every time the crowd roared, the Jack Russell barked loudly along with them. He was also dancing on two legs to beg for treats – that is a step too far. Then a new friend came in – Sammy, a handsome Samoyed, with his Dad, George. He is a large a white dog with a long and thick double coat, friendly and gentle. Mum and Dad made a huge fuss of him, cooing and saying how beautiful he was. I was quite jealous and I started barking to remind them I still needed my dinner.

New Year Party in Muswell Hill

Well I was a bit miffed cos Mum and Dad went to the Royal Oak without me for a New Year party – they said it was just too crowded for all the dogs to go along – but they promised to take me there next week. When they went out they gave me a bone, but I finished that and I found a packet of bagels that my auntie left on the floor! So i munched through a couple of those. Mum and Dad did not really mind cos they realise you should not leave food in sniffing distance of a bored dog.

Can I give your dog a biscuit?

Music to canine ears, when Mum and I were in Muswell Hill Broadway yesterday. A lady came up and asked that magic question, ‘Can I give your dog a biscuit?’ Well, what do you think? So Mum said that would be very nice, and thanked her. The biscuits were Markies, a little imitation marrowbone snack, and of course I got two. They were big so we had to stand around while I ate them. This lady has no dog of her own so she likes to make a fuss of any friendly dogs she sees. Tha’s fine with me!. She also gave Mum a couple to take home for me, but then I was not allowed any cake (so I did my most appealing look and I still got some cake as well).

Finding the Best Car for a Dog

The car saga continues – the car Mum bought was a Kia Rio, and she really wanted something smaller, like a supermini. Also it did not have central locking and she was having to lock the door with me on the lead. So for the next few days I did not get a walk in the park as we were checking out all the parked cars around Muswell Hill, to decide on the best car for me, or so she said. So then she decided she wanted a Toyota Yaris or a Kia Picanto. I have heard nothing else as she made up her mind. She says we have to get one by this weekend cos we might visit my Nan next week.

Kevin the Collie Celebrity Spotting

Well this guy is not really such a big name, Mum says she has seen him in Muswell Hill many times. But yesterday and today we saw the actor who plays Billy Mitchell in Eastenders, walking a young black Labrador. Most dog walkers pass the time of day when they meet but this guy – weraing a baseball cap – seemed to be terrified of being recognised. Relax, mate – Eastenders actors are not really ‘A list celebrities’. Mum says we are going to start taking the camera out more often, so shall we see how much we can get from Hello Magazine for a shot of him?
