Dog Maid of Honour

Primrose and the Groom

As I have been dog sitting for our vicar’s dog recently, it was agreed that she should act as doggie maid of honour, and also represent our own dear departed Kev. On the day, Primrose appeared, resplendent with a beautiful cream bow tied to her collar. True to form the Standard Poodle took the proceedings in her stride and posed graciously for photos with the happy couple and guests. Some might say the ceremony was rather camp but any bereaved dog owner will understand that the presence of primrose and the other dogs helped to ease our grief that our own dog could not be with us on the happy day.

After the service we escaped to a Stratosphere hotel, something we could not have done while he was alive. But I would be very happy to trade holidays abroad for the companionship of my dog again.

I have been a really good dog this week as Mum has not been around during the day to take me for walks, so I have been staying with my Nan and she gives me about four short walks spaced out every few hours. I must say I have also been sleeping a lot, and then when Mum comes back I have lots of energy to tell her off and demand a very long walk with lots of barking and playbites.

Happy News today of a new puppy who is going to be adopted by Katy and Martin, who are Oscar’s Mummy and Daddy. You can read all about my dear friend Oscar, a blogging dog, who we lost last month. His Mum and Dad heard that one of their breeder’s other dogs was having puppies and they bravely decided to take one of them. Here is a picture of the puppies’ father, his Kennel Club name is Joval Jumpin Jack Flash at Jokyl – otherwise known as Jack. Here is another picture of the puppies’ Mum, Maggie, proudly showing off her litter.

Mini Oscar – in Felt!

You probably read how upset we all were when my lovely doggie blogging friend Oscar the Airedale died recently. He was just a young pup and he got very ill suddenly, so his loss was a great shock and really tragic. His Mum and Dad heard from a lady who makes little felt models of Airedale terriers, and this is the photo of the one that she sent to Oscar’s Mum and Dad. It is a lovely way to remember a dog, I think.

Funny Dog Stories

I love visiting other dogs’ blogs, and seeing what they get up to. One funny dog is called Bernard, he is a miniature Schnauzer living near Lichfield here in the UK and he is still a puppy. His family have captured some great images of Bernard doing the things that dogs do best, like trying to get the last bit of ice cream out of the tub. Even at my great age I still enjoy games like this and I am famed for my trick of holding a roasting dish down with my paw so that I can get the last drops of gravy – happy times!

Oscar the Airedale

Just after we arrived in Devon – and had afternoon tea – my Dad took me for a quick walk while Mum went online for a while. When we came back she was in tears and very upset. Mum had just logged on to my blog and discovered a message from Oscar the Airedale’s Mum and Dad to tell us that poor dear Oscar had died of pancreatitis. Of all the other dogs with blogs that we know, we both felt that Oscar was an exceptional boy. Oscar and his Mum and Dad, Katy and Martin, always sent me a little message if I was under the weather and it is a tragedy to lose him at such a young age – he was just fourteen months old! Oscar was an accomplished agility dog and also came through advanced dog obedience classes with flying colours. I know he had become quite a well known local character at his home near Swindon, so he will be missed badly by a lot of people whose lives were touched by this adorable dog. This is one of our favourite pictures of him: I really do not know what to say, but it shows us we must just make the most of our time together.

Fast Dog Blogging Slowly

We are getting really fed up with the slow pace of life here on the seaside coast – no, we are not tired of the place, but the speed of our internet connection is terribly slow. Everything Mum tries to do online today is taking three times longer with that horrible message ‘problem loading page’ appearing nearly every time we try to write a post. While we were trying to fix this problem we noticed that my Blog was taking a long time to load. We have removed some widgets from the page to try and speed things up, and I wanted to apologise to any readers who have had this trouble with my blog. If it is still loading slowly please leave me a comment and I will try to fix it.

My good friend, the lovely Mihaela, tagged me to pass the love on to four other dog lovers. Mig wrote a good story about how powerful dog images can be in website promotion, and to prove it I have included a picture of the Lycos dog. Here in the UK we are used to seeing the image of Lucky, the dog who advertises insurance and causes havoc in the family car. Lucky is a Jack Russell and Mum says that after she saw him on TV day after day she decided that she wanted to get a dog of her own. Who am I going to tag? Here is the list:

Rockin’ Guy Blogger

I have got an award! My lovely blogging mate Oscar the Airedale, who also lives in England, received the Rockin’ Guy Blogger award and he passed on three mini versions to his best friends – like me! Oscar is a lovely young dog with a cheeky expression but he has been working hard at dog agility classes. Recently he completed his gold award and you can see him posing proudly in the picture. Wow – he sat still and he looked at the camera! My Dad wishes I was that good …..

I have been tagged by my friend Silken to play a new meme game.

The Rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog post with their 7 things as well as these rules. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog.

This is a good tagging game because I think all the other players so far have been humans. That means I can find seven other dogs with blogs quite easily and they haven’t been tagged before.
Here is my list:
1. I like having a bath, and I actually preen myself when I am getting bathed
2. I do not chase sticks or balls, and if they ask me to I adopt my haughty look
3. I love beaches but I don’t like swimming and I get scared if the water goes above my paws
4. I never sit on furniture and I don’t like being picked up
5. When I was in the rescue home they didn’t see my collar (with a name on it) for three days cos I am so hairy.
6. I enjoy being tucked up in bed at night
7. I don’t chase cats – and I don’t take any notice when they start arching their backs and hissing at me.
