Toy Dogs are the Hottest New Fashion Accessory

There is a hot new fashion accessory that is gracing the arm of top celebs and the covers of many fashion magazines today. This fashion accessory is a one size fits all. What is this great fashion accessory that you must have now? It is a toy dog in your arm.

A pocket-sized dog is one of the most common fashion accessories of the stars seen strolling down the street on a bedazzled leash or nestled in the arm of her owner. Usually these great fashion accessories are seen in an even more fashionable tote bag. With the likes of Paris Hilton, taking her toy dog, Tinker Bell everywhere with her, this is the new fashion trend. Paris had to post a reward when her precious Tinker Bell disappeared.

There is much to be taken into account before you jump on this fashion accessory bandwagon. There are many types of toy dogs that you can choose from for your fashion. You also have to consider the items that you will need to take of your pint-sized bundle of joy. There is also a world of fashion that you can get to dress your toy dog in as well. Fashion for the fashion accessory is a must.

TYPES OF TOY / POCKET DOGS
There are a few breeds that you should consider when looking into a toy dog. The most common of the toy dogs is often the tea cup Chihuahua. This is the same type of dog that Paris Hilton has. Yorkshire Terriers are another breed of dog that is a great one to look into. This dog has a stubborn temperament and is often better suited to older people. Some of the other breeds to look into are toy Poodles, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, and Pugs.

CARE OF YOUR TOY DOG
This fashion accessory is going to need more care then your cashmere wrap of last season. You will need to take care of the basic necessities for your toy dog. You will need a small water and food dish that is low to the ground. Remember it will not need anywhere near as much food as their full size counterpart. You will need a place for your dog to sleep. Grooming is important as well when it comes to toy dogs. A basic dog grooming kit is essential to keep them healthy and looking his best.

DOG FASHION ACCESSORIES
Fashion accessories are one of the fun things about owning a toy dog. There are rhinestone studded leashes and collars to make sure that your pet has their jewelry on at all times. You can buy clothing from a fulfillment center for every event that your toy dog may need to attend. There are many fashionable bags that you can choose from to take your dog with you everywhere that you go.

A toy dog is a great fashion accessory for anyone looking for a little bundle of love with them all the time. These great little dogs do take some care to make them healthy and happy. Once you have done all of your research on what breed that you would like to have, you are ready to purchase this year’s hottest fashion trend.

When, Where and How to Bathe Your Dog

Is this a familiar scenario? Every where you go around the house your devoted dog is by your side. He knows when you are preparing his meals, when someone is due home from work he’s at the window waiting, or just when you are relaxing, he is also.

When you begin getting ready to give him a bath, then suddenly you can’t find him. He knows whats up and doesn’t like it. Most dogs don’t enjoy their bath, but here are a few tips to reduce your dog’s anxiety.

WHEN

Use your judgment and common sense. If he is covered in muck and mud, or smells like something is rotten, then the time is now.

Basically a minimum of 3 or 4 baths a year for a clean, indoor apartment dwelling dog is sufficient. Obviously many more baths are needed for your outdoor, active or working dog.

Regular brushing helps with removing dead hair, distribute natural oils and removes dirt. This alone helps decrease the amount of dog baths necessary. A good brush, appropriate for your dog’s size and fur type, will give you and your pet a special time of bonding, and he will be so ecstatic and much more appreciative of time spent together. Dogs will always prefer this over a bath anytime

WHERE

Do not bathe your dog outdoors in cold winter climates. Using the proper dog shampoo and tepid to warm water, bathe your dog in the utility tub, a small basin or your bath tub, depending on your dog’s size.

Don’t let a wet dog go out doors in cold, frosty or damp weather. The dog must be completely dry, especially down to the undercoat, that some dogs have.

In the warm summer time I bathe my dogs outside and let the heat of the sun dry them. They can run and shake, and take a nice warm sun bath.

HOW

Make sure your dog’s coat is combed and all the mats and knots are removed. These will only become more difficult to remove after they are wet.

Also, make sure that you have a calm environment for bath time. You don’t want the kid’s fighting and crying, stress from yourself and a rushed, hurried attitude. Most dogs don’t enjoy baths, but will tolerate them if you are relaxed and gentle.

Make sure if using the tub, that your have a non slip mat down so your dog feels secure.

I use a shower head and long hose that is just perfect so my labs can stand up and I am comfortable also. If you don’t have this, use a large pitcher (plastic) to wet and rinse with. Wash the face first with a wet cloth, without soap. Some people put cotton balls in the ears for protection, and if it makes you more comfortable, do so. Just don’t forget to take them out after.

When you are finished the bath, the inevitable shaking will begin. If you are quick on the draw you can get a dry, clean towel over you dog to absorb some of the water before you get a bath also. It is inevitable that your will get wet anyway. Using old clean towels, that are used specifically for clean ups and your dogs messes, dry the fur as much as possible. Most dogs love the rub down after their bath much more than the actual bath.

Some dogs enjoy getting blown dried with a hair dryer or ceiling fan after their baths, but if you do this, make sure you use the warm setting, not hot. To prevent a hot spot on your dog’s skin, you must keep the dryer moving at all times.

When you bring your puppy home, giving him a bath regularly when he is little will help make this just another routine in his life, rather than something that is scary. As most of us pet owners know, our dogs can feel our moods, so make it a relaxing as possible, so it doesn’t become a struggle and unpleasant event every time

————————

Understanding your dog’s behavior will increase the bond between you and your dog. Taking care of your dog, and giving him the best, whether it be the best nutrition, or the best medical care or the best emotional connection will make you and your pet both extremely content.

Characteristics of Siberian Huskies

Siberian Huskies are an amazingly beautiful dog breed with a rich history. If you are unsure what they look like you can imagine the sled dogs that are in dogsled races. If that is not enough for you then continue reading this article and I will go in depth into the Siberian Huskies characteristics.

The first, and one of the more interesting characteristics of the husky, is their eyes. The Siberian Huskies characteristics stand out most because of this one. They have brown or blue eyes but can also have two different coloured eyes or each eye can have two different colors. The eyes are almond shaped and moderately spaced.

Huskies sometimes suffer from a condition called “winter nose” or “snow nose”, which is scientifically called hypopigmentation. “Snow nose” is acceptable in the dog show ring. If the husky is gray it will have a black nose, if it is black it will have a tan nose, if it is copper-colored it will have a liver nose, and if it is white it will have a flesh color. These are typically the colors of the noses, but they may be different than listed.

The huskies coat is comprised of a dense undercoat and a longer topcoat of straight hair. During shedding though the topcoat will be the one that sheds and the undercoat will not. The shedding that takes place during the telogen phase has been called exogen, which is the name for the cycle that takes place separate from the resting state. The huskies fur causes it problems during the summer, when it has trouble cooling itself.

These dogs have medium-sized, triangularly erect ears that are known as prick ears. The tails is a fox-like brush and is carried in a curve over the back and trails behind the dog in motion. The majority of these huskies have white tipped tails.

The typical size of the Siberian husky for a male is between 21 to 23 inches and the females are between 20 to 22 inches. The weight of the males is between 45 to 60 pounds and the weight of the females is between 35 to 50 pounds.

Siberian Huskies are beautiful dogs that have a rich history. You may recognize them from dogsled races or you should now be able to identify them using these Siberian Huskies’ characteristics. However you identify them, it is hard to mix this amazing dog breed.

————————

Organic Dog Beds For The Environment

Many products are available today, there are so many options for quality dog beds that it may be well confusing to locate just the proper item for your favorite dog. But for those consumers that are trying to choose all-natural and outdoor products when available, you may be surprised to know that you can have an organic dog bed as well. If you are interested in all-natural and organic materials, then a latex dog bed might be what you a looking for.

Latex is made from all-natural rubber from the rubber tree, making an all-natural latex foam rubber. This foam rubber is much heavier and denser than typical foam beds, adding extra comfort and support. The denser material is up to three times the weight of plastic based polyurethane foams and has less air, making it hold its shape longer than a typical cushion or other foam pad.

Latex is a very healthy material and serves as an excellent source of comfort and durability. It is naturally antimicrobial and hypo-allergenic. In addition, latex foam rubber inhibits the growth of mold, fungus and bacteria. Although you wouldn’t need as much maintenance with a latex bed, it is one of the only truly washable foam materials, making the care of your dog bed even easier.

A latex dog bed will stand up to every element outdoor or not. Many beds if made with cheap materials will develop mildew. Natural latex beds also repel dust mites, making this material perhaps the healthiest option available for your dog.

Durability is another great quality in natural latex dog beds. Although it is completely biodegradable, it can last as a bed for up to 30 years before it starts to wear out, making this the only bed you may ever need to buy for your dog.

As we all know, comfort and support are very important elements when looking for dog beds. A dog uses a dog bed every day as humans do. It depends on comfort and a sense of security. All-natural latex beds are much more comfortable than a typical dog bed as the material actually has memory and will conform to the shape of your dog. And if comfort, support, durability and natural material weren’t enough, latex foam rubber has a luxurious feel to it, so you don’t have to compromise anything – your dog can have it all.

Searching for a durable, mildew free, outdoor, long lasting solution then an all natural latex foam rubber dog bed is for you. Your dog will thank you.

————————

Joede write about quality vet-recommended extra large dog beds and organic dog beds that are useful to all dog lovers, and more unlikely items like tuxedo jackets as well. See http://www.mammothoutlet.com for more.

You can teach old dogs new tricks

As the time since losing Kev passes, the pain receds a little. Towards the end of the year we hope to adopt another dog -or possibly two dogs. The owner of Primrose, the Standard Poodle who came from Australia, has noticed an interesting trend among local dog owners. Helen finds that, for Arundel dog owners, a rescue dog has a certain cachet. Buying from a breeder is not seen as the best option, and some people actually frown on the idea. This must be music to the ears of animal rescue charities. They have been urging us for years to look at all the unwanted dogs first, rather than encourage puppy farming. We are only one small town of admittedly middle class dog lovers, but at least the message is getting through. Older dogs are the other neglected group, as they are often passed over in favour of puppies. When we adopted Kev, his age was estimated at nine. We had nearly four rewarding years with him, and given the chance we would do it all over again. Our beautiful dog was slim and handsome, with a fantastic coat. He always helped me avoid eating too much as half my snacks always reached his stomach. This is a great alternative to an appetite suppressant, and helped me keep my weight down. That is just one more advantage to having a dog.

I go to all the meetings with estate agents and brokers, and I just curl up under a chair – listen and learn! What I have picked up is that Mum keeps our own mortgage as low as possible – she believes if you are going to pay the interest on mortgages they should be taken out on an appreciating asset. Mortgages are one thing but she doesn’t have a lot of love for secured loans, apparently people take them out to buy things like cars and then later on they find they can’t make the repayments and their home is in danger of repossession. It must be true because we saw quiet a few repo homes in our search.

I popped over to Onion’s blog to find out more and I saw that my friend Loui is also going along. I am hoping to be there and meet up with Onion and Loui. My big dilemma is ‘what to wear’ – I am not really into dressing up, but I want to put on a good show, since Onion is wearing a hand made Canine Space Suit. If you have any ideas, please leave me a message.
Tags:dogs,weblog, pets,diary,dog food,

While I have Kennel Cough I am wearing it every time I go out – how embarrassing!!
