We got a great Christmas card from Lucky, ‘We woof you a Merry Christmas and a Yappy New Year’. Here it is - the dog looks smart with a beard and Santa hat.
Lucky has gone on holiday by the sea in Northumberland for two weeks while his family are away for Christmas in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro or Redcar beach - which would you choose for a dog to play on? Well, at least you don’t have to take Malaria tablets if you stay in England.

This is my favourite place to sleep during the day, next to the Aga. I was minding my own business when Dad came in and decided to put his (Designer) scarf on me. Now everyone knows I do NOT play, but they also pushed this toy mouse under my left paw. There has been a big debate about my Christmas present list. But what else am I supposed to ask for if I do not want toys? Bling or sausages will do fine, thanks, Santa. OK, maybe some dog chocolate as well.

So our search for a car is over. In the end it was so easy, she should have listened to me. ‘Get a silver car, Mum!’ Remember I asked for a nice silver ingot for Christmas? It will be a great piece of bling, and also a nice investment if I ever need the money. Loui suggested I should go to Tiffany for my silver, he probably saw that Mum has a silver necklace. So - back to the story: finally, after looking at so many cars she is buying a very nice silver Yaris and we are collecting it on Monday. Mum says we will need to go on a bus, the tube and a train. I know the tube trains are silver, hope the big train is also silver. Did I mention - Dad’s car is silver too. Well a classy dog needs to be surrounded by precious metal.

I am already dropping big hints for my Christmas Presents. I have tried barking ’sausages’, but I also want some more Bling. I already have two ID tags and a mini torch round my neck. I hope my richer friends might think of buying me a silver ingot, which would go nicely with the rest of my jewellery. Silver is the precious metal of the moment, very much in demand. I know Mum and Dad prefer silver for themselves so maybe they will take this seriously. I would far rather have some silver than a doggie toy, any day. If times get hard I can buy plenty of gourmet dog food with one silver ingot - must check out the nearest silver dealer.

We often come across a few minor soap stars round here, cos we are only a few miles from town and also quite close to the BBC Elstree studios. Usually we play it very cool and pretend we don’t recognise them, we don’t want to boost their egos. But it is different when we meet their dogs. We ran into Maureen Lipman’s dog, Diva, a Basenji: also known as the Barkless Dog of Africa. Maureen Lipman was not walking her in person, the PA had the job! Diva is a nice dog, a bit smaller than me and very nice natured. Mum and Dad made all the expected remarks - how nice it would be if I made less noise, etc. Especially after I started barking outside the baker’s today. Well, I just wanted to make sure they got a cake that I liked.

We went to stay at my Grandmother’s this weekend and Mum did some shopping for her. I found some fun ways to occupy myself:
- stand near an automatic door so that it stays open - this really annoys the security staff. If the door does close, jump inside the door and howl loudly as if you have been trapped
- wait at the supermarket entrance barking constantly (even though you can see your Mum) until people give you a treat.
I tried all these, and they were good fun. Not bad for an elderly dog!

Mum says I stop her concentrating on her shopping, and she will forget my Christmas Presents - is she joking? I heard Mum’s niece saying she has got me an edible christmas present, which is best cos I do not play with dog toys, nor do I chase balls.
