Mum says her friend’s son had some problems when he was a small boy because of a congenital condition that caused his chin to fail to grow properly. It looked really unfortunate and in later life this would have been a real disadvantage to him. Fortunately his Mum was a nurse and she made sure that he got Chicago chin implants when he was at the right age. Now he is almost grown up and the problem is unnoticeable.

I feel as if I am living in the States, although of course I can probably never visit. Jess was talking about another of her airline clients the other day, who was flying to the US for a consultation with San Jose plastic surgery to see how much they can help her. This lady has some scars following burns that she suffered and they are experts at restoring the face to its original beauty.

Mum’s niece is a lucky young woman – she has started a job where she carries out in-flight beauty treatments travelling across the Atlantic. When she gets there, she has a day free to explore the city. Imagine, she will soon be an expert on Things to do in San Diego as well as Washington, San Francisco (she calls it San Fran), and New York. Then the next day she flies back and sees the ordinary people!

I am a boy with a big nose, but that looks fine on me as I am meant to be that way. My Dad has quite a big nose, and he broke it when he was younger. So he also has some breathing trouble. Now he can get cheap tickets to the States, he is thinking about getting advice from San Diego Rhinoplasty where they deal with the cosmetic operation and the breathing system.

Very exciting news this week when Mum’s niece started work as an airline beautician. She flies round the world, looking after people’s hands with manicures and massages. She has met lots of new people and some of her clients told her about the operations they have booked at a Miami cosmetic surgery clinic. Apparently they find it cheaper to fly there for their op, and fly back a couple of weeks later. Maybe she will meet them on the return trip and see the difference.

Dog Kennels

What does the term dog kennels mean to you? Mum asked me this last night, in one of our usual profound dog debates. Well I have never had an outside dog kennel, but I remember we visited friends of Dad’s just after I arrived here and their dogs sleep outside in their own kennels. The other thing I remember about that visit is that I lifted my leg in their kitchen, I’m ashamed to say. I was a bit nervous in my new surroundings, I think. When I beg at the table during dinner Dad often threatens to make me sleep outside like those guard dogs. Sure – he would be coming outside to check that I was OK right through the night, the big softie!

Cars

The one thing men and women never seem to agree on is cars. My Mum has a small hatchback and she says it is all that anybody needs. She packs me, my Nan and our luggage in and off we go, at fifty miles to the gallon. My Dad says he needs a big car and apparently that car should cost the same as a house. When he sees Lamborghinis for sale or other smart sports cars he tells Mum he is going to buy one for the summer, and so it begins …. Me, I just cover my ears.
