Appreciative coaching

Sara Orem, faculty member in the Capella University’s School of Business and Technology offering online college degree, has recently published a new book a co-author, entitled ‘Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change’. The book, published by Jossey-Bass, uses positive questions, mindfulness, and other tools to acknowledge the strengths of individuals and effect change. Orem’s co-authors are Jacqueline Binkert, PhD, and Ann Clancy, PhD. The book reflects current thinking in the fields of psychology and organizational development which support the belief that people and organizations flourish when they focus on human ideals, achievements, and best practice. Appreciative Coaching is a four stage process, separated into Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny. These combine to motivate us to an appreciative and empowering view of ourselves and their future.
