It is a lovely sunny day today and I am feeling a little better. My megadose of Baytril seems to be working, but I am still making life difficult for Mum when she tries to give me the tablet. I can tell is the pill is slipped into a slice of smoked salmon and I also spot it if she conceals it in some cheese. But she managed to fool me yesterday with some corned beef.

Nan has a friend who moved across to the US at the age of 80, to live with his son. Here in England we may think things are hard sometimes, but this guy had to get his own individual health insurance over there and the cost – just for visiting the doctor when necessary – was more than $400 a month. At that rate, vets’ bills do not seem quite so bad. No, forget that – Vets’ bills are still a rip off!

So I was back at the vet’s again yesterday, to check my bad ear. Mum hoped that I would stand still for the vet and she tried to hold my jaw but I was not happy. Out came the muzzle, and I was still struggling. Mum and the vet piled on to me – gently of course – so that he could examine my ear. His cufflinks then got caught in my bushy tail, serves him right.

Nan has finally decided on her holiday this year: she is going on a trip to France on Euro star and the fast train from Paris, she does not like flying and after all trains are a dog friendly travel method. Like me, she will probably have to pay quite a lot for her travel insurance but she says it will be worth it.

Mum has been working in the shop for a little time lately as someone has been ill with flu, and I have been staying with my Nan. Mum says she misses being able to make a nice pot of tea when she is there. The kettle is furred up, and the alternative is one of those tankless water heaters
which is not quite the same as the water is not boiling. Then when she gets home the first thing to do is to take me out, not sit around drinking tea …..

Valentine’s

It seems as if we just jump from celebration to celebration lately. No sooner have the humans finished shopping for Christmas presents than they start thinking about the next big day. As if a winter wedding was not enough, now they are thinking about valentines day gifts and I heard them taking about going out to celebrate. They had better find a dog friendly place to eat!
