Keep warm in my garden

We are finally getting some good weather after all the rain that has swept across England recently. My Nan is not very happy that she moved to the seaside in the wettest summer on record! She feels the cold quite badly and she says she is going to need an outdoor fireplace in the garden so that she can sit out there in the evenings. Sounds like a good idea to me, it would be just like having the Aga in the garden and I can curl up beside it and go to sleep.

Dog in Cafe

Today I went to visit my Nan and we went to Littlehampton Beach. There is a smart new trendy cafe that has opened on the East beach and everyone is takling about the design - see what you think. Mum and I had our photo taken outside the cafe, but when we wanted tea we actually went to the Putting Green Cafe - they welcome dogs inside and outside. We sat inside because the sun was quite strong, and Mum said how nice it is to relax inside a cafe with your dog. I was not the only dog - there was a grey Miniature Schnauzer having tea with his family as well. Top marks to this dog friendly cafe.

Beach Ban on Dogs Lifted

Good news for lovers of the best beaches in England - Dogs will soon be allowed on some Cornwall beaches in the Helston and Lizard area. Until now the ban was 24hours a day between Easter and the end of September: in future we dogs will be able to go on the beaches after 7pm. The same district is going to ban dogs from all children’s play areas, that seems fair enough to me. I can’t get on the swings anyway.

Dormouse rescue

When we managed to go out for a walk yesterday afternoon - between rain showers - we had quite an adventure. First we met Ben Wilson, who painted my picture, and then on the way back we noticed a little Dormouse sitting really still, in the middle of the pavement. Mum was worried that someone would tread on the mouse, then some other women came along and one of them was able to pick the little mouse up and put it somewhere safe. They were most impressed that I didn’t try to eat the mouse up: I said I prefer sausages!

Best Picture of Me

We have been neglecting our photos, because the camera is not working properly. Mainly Dad is taking our photos on his phone instead, and last week he took a really nice photo of me when we went walking by the beach. We walked about a mile on the beach then there was a footpath back, just away from the coast. The path went through a wheat crop and the ears of corn were above my head! We stopped in the middle of the field and Dad got this great photo of me among the wheat. How do I look?

Tidying up

Have I mentioned that my Dad really likes keeping wires under control? Mum never used to care and she just stuffed the wires out of sight but that means they can get hot and then they might short out. Dad introduced her to the joys of cable tie gadgets - it is true - and actually she saw the sense of using them. Also she accepted that the wires needed protection by using wire covers behind her computer and AV equipment. When she moved house she accepted that the cable ties had been really useful!

Now she happily browses through a site called Cable Ties and More, which is a paradise for tidy people. Apparently my Nan has loads of stray cables that need to be tidied because they can be dangerous if you trip on them and that is the last thing anyone wants. Not all their equipment is wireless so they may even need to get some floor cord covers to get the phone connections all round the house safely.

Mum says she knows exactly what to buy Dad for his birthday - a bumper set of cable ties in all colours and sizes. Now he can go round the house tying all the cables to his heart’s desire!
