Good news- my Nan has finally chosen a house! It is about five minutes walk from the beach and park, great for me. The house has stripped wooden floors so Nan will be able to clear my fur up easily. At the moment she has carpets and she says dog hair sticks to it like glue. There is a very sunny garden and they know I don’t like the sun, so I will probably lie in the shade of the shed where I can still keep an eye on everybody.

We have been in the middle of a heatwave here, with temperatures above 25 Celsius for more than a week. We also spent a lot of time in the car this week so I took my portable drinking bottle and bowl with me, and Mum had a big bottle of water in the boot to top it up. Despite this, I was quite dehydrated on Saturday afternoon when we went to the park near Nan’s house. Mum got me a big cool drinking bowl from the cafe and we sat in the shade, watching Punch and Judy, for a while until I recovered. At home, Mum is now putting a little turkey stock in my water to persuade me to drink a lot. It works!

I am such a lucky boy – I just finished the meat from my Doggy Bag, on Tuesday. Mum was given the stuff on Saturday and she has made stock from all the turkey bones. When she wants me to drink more water she puts some of the stock into my water bowl. When I smell the meat I drink loads of fresh water!!

I know that doggie bags are popular over in the US, Mum says they serve big meals there and people often take the food home in a doggie bag. Last night Mum and Nan went to a carvery and they left me in the car because I don’t bark as much if I am there. Also they can come out and check that I’m all right during the evening. At the end, Mum asked the Chef if he had any gammon bones for me. He didn’t speak much English so she mimed – I’m not sure how! Then he went into the kitchen and emerged with a bag of turkey legs and gammon bones that weighed about 15 pounds. I got really excited when I smelt it, and Mum cut some meat off for me when we got home. She is glad she asked, it is a waste of food that they don’t use the turkey legs.
