Dog Food Recall Home Made Food

At the moment lots of dog owners in the United States are frightened to feed any packaged food to their pets in case it contains poison, following the recent discovery of toxic dog food. An easy way to feed your dog ‘human’ food safely for the moment is as follows:
one-third cooked brown rice
one-third cooked chicken or lamb
one-third cooked vegetables – but no sweetcorn or mushrooms.
Dogs should find a meal like this very appetising, especially if you add some stock or gravy. This is a fairly low fat meal and gives your dog everything he needs for a few days. This recipe is along the lines of the Burn’s Dog Food that Kevin the Collie is now eating.

Parts for Ford

Ford is a car marque with a pedigree, these vehicles are reliable and have a certain character. Ford make cars, vans and pickups – the white Ford transit van has become a synonym for a certain type of guy over here! And of course who can forget the performance of the Ford Mustang in the famous nine minute car chase when it was banging up and down the hills of San Francisco at speeds of over 110 mph. Any car could suffer radiator damage after a punishing drive like that. Radiator.com is the best place to go for a ford radiator: they stock thousands of aftermarket Ford radiators and upgrade radiators for Ford models.

Dog Food Recall Developments

I found some more information on the dog food recall in the US, Canada and Mexico. There have been reports of dozens of pets dying from kidney failure after eating the tainted food, but estimates are that the final total could be hundreds of deaths, with thousands more illnesses. On 16 March Menu Foods recalled 42 brands of cat food and 53 brands of dog food manufactured on certain dates. Later the company broadened the recall to all its “cuts and gravy” style products, regardless of date code. Menu Foods makes many of the major dog food brands in America including Nutro, Purina and Hill’s (wet cat food only). In other countries these brands are produced by different licencees – you can check on the packaging if you are unsure. In the meantime many dog owners in the states are feeding their dogs on home made food.

Dog Food Recall – what is safe?

The terrible situation at Menu Foods is a shock for dog and cat owners in the US. As you probably know, here in the UK brands like Burns, James Wellbeloved and Wagg are popular because they are not made under license – they have been developed by their manufacturers to meet a need. Burn’s dry dog food is my current choice. It is made from natural ingredients only, and was developed by a veterinary surgeon who saw a link between diet and chronic dog ailments and allergies. If you live outside the UK and you have a similar recommendation, please leave a comment.
