I was recovering from my operation quite well and my throat seemed less sore but then I started with a hacking cough. It is the same type of problems that humans have: you go into hospital for an operation and pick up an infection while you are there - maybe I should not have kissed all the other dogs!

I just want to let you know what happened at the vet’s - it wasn’t TOO awful. I went with the nurse to a kennel but I had to wait there a while. I barked quite a lot, I always do that so they won’t forget I am there. Later they shaved off a tiny area of fur above my eye and a patch on my front leg. I had anaesthetic injected into my leg, and when I was asleep they removed the little cyst. It had dried up before the operation, and it was easily fixed. But it could come back later, they said. The good news is that it was not malignant: that is the word they used, I think it means ‘no cancer’ - phew! While I was asleep the vet also looked at my ears (I nearly bit her hand last time she tried this ). They think I have got ear mites again so we are using Cleanaural Dog to try and flush the little mites out. When Mum gets round to it I will show some photos of before and after.

I am back! I had the operation on my eye last Tuesday afternoon, after Mum had taken me to the vet’s in the morning. We realised how lucky we are when we met some other dogs who were having treatment. Some of them had cancer and broken bones, so I had to be extra brave.

When Mum came to collect me she could hear me barking, louder than all the other dogs! The nurse tried to quieten me down, but she did not realise I am a bit deaf, so I just barked a bit more. As I came outside I was staggering a bit from the anaesthetic. After we got home I had a few treats and some dinner, Mum told me about the lovely Get Well messages we had received, then I just slept - in my bed - all evening.
