Happy Dog Walks

Well I have not had a really good walk in the woods for a few days as Mum has been at the gym wuite often.
Mum took me shopping in Finchley and went to her favourite, dog friendly, Turkish grocer, in Finchley High Road. The man who runs it came and made a big fuss of me: Mum was really pleased.
Later on we went to the pub – I know the way now. It was a bit quiet, people must be saving their cash for Christmas.

Can I give your dog a biscuit?

Music to canine ears, when Mum and I were in Muswell Hill Broadway yesterday. A lady came up and asked that magic question, ‘Can I give your dog a biscuit?’ Well, what do you think? So Mum said that would be very nice, and thanked her. The biscuits were Markies, a little imitation marrowbone snack, and of course I got two. They were big so we had to stand around while I ate them. This lady has no dog of her own so she likes to make a fuss of any friendly dogs she sees. Tha’s fine with me!. She also gave Mum a couple to take home for me, but then I was not allowed any cake (so I did my most appealing look and I still got some cake as well).

Christmas Dog Tags

I’ve been tagged – twice – by my dear mate Loui and by a new friend, Oscar – good fun, this is my first tag!

The Rules: The player of this game starts with “3 things they would love to get for Christmas” and also has to list “3 things they definitely do not want to get for Christmas”. Then they tag five friends and list their names. The ones who get tagged need to write on their blogs about their Christmas wishes, and state this rule clearly, then tag five more mates. And the one who tags need to leave a comment that says “you’ve been Christmas tagged!” in their comments and tell them to read your blog. So here we go -

3 things I would LOVE to get for Christmas
1) A massive bone
2) Sausage and stuffing for dinner every day over the holidays
3) A walk in the woods on Christmas Day

3 things I definitely DON’T want for Christmas

1) No baths
2) No bans – I don’t want to hear ‘dogs not allowed here’ ANYWHERE
3) No grooming

I am going to tag Butchy and Snickers, Onion the Celebrity Dog, The Beautiful Hana, Jay the Yorkie & Ivy the squirrel hunter, and Toby

Medication Check

Everyone is getting older, including me! Most of us now need to take prescribed medications every day but very few can probably recall the full names of each one and how much of each drug we are supposed to take. There is an online service that can help with this, by checking for dozens of potential drug interactions at once. The medical attendant or pharmacist can just enter the different brand names or generic medications – including Zyprexa – to tell exactly and instantly whether any of them could interact with adverse affects. They can also print off a picture of a newly prescribed drug to avoid confusion with other pills you are already taking. Drug side effects and allergies are a real and growing problem, so anything that can help us avoid these life threatening dangers is very welcome.

What makes a dog friendly pub?

We do not understand why it is that some pubs are so relaxed about letting dogs in, and others have a complete ban. We were looking at the doggiepubs site recently, and this is what they said: ‘The commonest excuses about not allowing dogs are “it’s the regulations”, or “Brussels”, or “they wurrrah-wurrrah the bar stools”. Fair enough, but we are not sure why “the regulations” apply to some pubs and not others.’
